Specializing in health coverage for individuals under 65 and those needing Medicare, I have been a licensed broker for over 20 years. Although my home base is in New Braunfels, I have clients all over Texas.
My favorite feeling is the one I get when clients' expressions go from anxiety and confusion to complete comprehension and smiling relief.

Finding out what you need and what your preferences are, is a very important part of my job. Once we get comfortable with each other, we can move on to the next step.
It's hard to get answers when you don't know what questions to ask. Now my job is to make sure that you get enough information to make educated choices, as well as help you act on those choices.
Things can and will change after you make your initial decision. You're going to have questions and/or need help. Now my job is to be available to you on a year round basis.

Medicare is health insurance primarily for people 65 or older. You’re first eligible to sign up for Original Medicare 3 months before you turn 65. You may also be eligible to get Medicare earlier if you have a disability
Also referred to as Original Medicare, these are government-provided. Part A covers hospital stays and is at no charge for most folks. Part B covers outpatient visits including doctor, labs and outpatient surgery. There is usually a premium for Part B. In 2023, the standard premium is $164.90
You will at least need Part D, which are prescription drug plans. More comprehensive health coverage can be added with a Medicare Supplement Plan or Part C. These are the Medicare Advantage plans. They combine Parts A&B with additional benefits, and usually include prescription coverage as well. All of these options are offered by private companies.

The Affordable Care Act provides an income-based subsidy (also called a tax credit) to help some individuals pay their health care insurance premiums. The lower your income the higher the subsidy and vice versa.
Generally, if your household income is 100% to 400% of the federal poverty level, you will qualify for a premium subsidy.
Beginning plan year 2023, if an individual has an offer of employer-sponsored coverage that extends to their family members, the affordability of employer coverage for those family members is now based on the family premium cost, not the self-only premium cost. Family members will be eligible for financial assistance on the Marketplace if the employee’s family premium cost is considered unaffordable. However, in most cases, the employee will not be eligible for a subsidy.

Plans are insured or covered by a Medicare Advantage (HMO,PPO & PFFS) organization with a Medicare contract and/or a Medicare approved Part D sponsor. Enrollment in the plan depends on the plan's contract renewal with Medicare.
